Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Foreign Minister — Commissioner of the “EXPO-2017” Rapil Zhoshybayev took part in the “Macau 2013” Global Tourism Economy Forum

On September 18, Kazakhstan’s delegation led by Rapil Zhoshybayev, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan — Commissioner of the International specialized exhibition “EXPO-2017” attended the “Macau 2013” Global Tourism Economy Forum.

The event titled “Regenerate Our Economies: Invest in Travel and Tourism” was aimed at identifying the most important issues of investment in the field of tourism and travel, as well as promoting economic development of the current global economic state.

The Forum was attended by prominent politicians and scholars of China, heads of government agencies for tourism of the member states, international tourism companies and organizations, including Taleb Rifai, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO); João Antunes, Chairman of Pacific Asia Tourism Association (PATA); Michael Frenzel, Chairman of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and others.

During the forum, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Deputy Minister had a bilateral meeting with Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of Macao SAR, to discuss the issues of bilateral cooperation, the possibility to open direct flights between Kazakhstan and Macau. There were also negotiations with the Ministers of Tourism of Cambodia, Indonesia, Portugal and Vietnam. Rapil Zhoshybayev informed about Kazakhstan’s international initiatives, tourism potential and process of organization of the International specialized exhibition “EXPO-2017” in Astana, on the theme “Future Energy.” Following the meetings R.Zhoshybayev invited his colleagues to visit Kazakhstan in order to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic, trade and tourism sectors.

We would remind that Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced 2017 the “Year of Chinese Tourism in Kazakhstan”. In this regard, Kazakhstan and China agreed on using this annual global forum next year to present Kazakhstan’s tourism opportunities and promote theme of the “EXPO-2017” exhibition.
