Visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Switzerland M.Tleuberdi to the Canton of Ticino

On the 28-29-th of August Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Swiss Confederation M.Tleuberdi made an official visit to the Canton of Ticino.

During meetings the officials and business community of the canton were informed on the main directions of the socio-economic and political development of Kazakhstan and the President’s Address «Kazakhstan’s way — 2050». Cantonal authorities and entrepreneurs were also informed about the official invitation to Switzerland to participate at the International specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 in Astana.

The authorities of Ticino and Lugano showed their keen interest to establish partnership relations with Kazakhstan regions, and are ready to consider specific proposals for the establishment and development of amicable relations. Lugano is the third most important financial center of Switzerland after Zurich and Geneva, the canton of Ticino hosts headquarters of several international companies, research institutions (in the field of medicine, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals), this region has also great cultural and historical significance. In addition, due to its close proximity to the north-Italian regions of Lombardy, Piedmont, Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto and the international airport of Milan, there is a high potential for cooperation in the tourism sector.

A special point of the visit was Swiss National Supercomputing Center (CSCS), which is on the first place by its power in Europe and the sixth — in the world. CSCS is part of the Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zurich and is funded from the federal budget, access to its capacity is available to scientists and researchers.

At the end of the visit took place a round table with the businessmen Participants, supported by the Association of Ticino’s industries, they were introduced to the main rules of the investment legislation of Kazakhstan in contexts of Customs Union and Eurasian Economic Union.
